The University of Virginia – in partnership with the Charlottesville Track Club -- is proud to present the fourth annual Community Bridges 5K Run/Walk.

This year’s race benefits a selection of local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the community.

Ivy Creek Foundation

  • The Ivy Creek Foundation offers many public nature walks and programs each year on the natural and cultural history of the area. All ICF programs are free and open to the public. The Ivy Creek Foundation maintains and makes available to the public: lists, brochures and educational materials on the plants and animals of the Ivy Creek Natural Area. With a vision to inspire and engage our community in the stewardship of our natural resources and our rich African American cultural history.

Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia

  • The Club provides an after school and summer program for children and teens ages 5-18, comprised of diverse activities that meet the interests of all youth. Our goals are to ensure that all teens graduate from high school with a plan for their future, that all members develop a healthy lifestyle and strong character and citizenship. Boys & Girls Clubs of America offers a lineup of tested and proven nationally recognized programs that address today’s most pressing youth issues, teaching young people the skills they need to succeed in life.

Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry

  • Provides free groceries twice per month to low-wealth households in Charlottesville and surrounding communities. This struggle can have many effects—adults may skip meals to make sure children eat or they may have to choose between food and other important expenses such as housing, utilities or medical bills.

Jefferson School African American Heritage Center

  • The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center’s mission is to honor and preserve the rich heritage and legacy of the African-American community of Charlottesville-Albemarle, Virginia and to promote a greater appreciation for, and understanding of, the contributions of African Americans and peoples of the Diaspora locally, nationally and globally.
