Finals Weekend

Important Notice

In response to the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, and evidence of its likely progression over the next few months, all University events on Grounds are prohibited until at least May 15. Final Exercises will not take place as currently planned. A team is already focused on developing creative alternatives to mark this important occasion for the Class of 2020, which includes holding Final Exercises at a later date. We will communicate updates as we have them. All events on Grounds have been cancelled during this semester.

Our top priority is the safety of students and members of the local and UVA community, visitors, and guests. More information on UVA's response to COVID-19.

Finals

Final Exercises 2020 will not proceed as planned.

In light of the evidence about the likely progression of the virus over the next couple of months, and when it will peak, we have made the difficult decision that Final Exercises will not take place as planned and plans are being made to consider other alternatives. We do not make this decision lightly, as we know how disappointing it will be to graduating students and their families. That said, a team is already focused on developing creative alternatives to mark this important occasion for the Class of 2020, which includes holding Final Exercises at a later date. We will communicate updates, directly to the graduating class of 2020, as we have them in coming weeks.

For the moment, however, we will need to focus on the safety and well-being of our community, students, faculty, staff and UVA Health care providers.
